SPECIAL INTERVIEW SESSION WITH WEBTOON CREATOR : @Ester Eri

It's comic cereal time !!! Hi there guys, here is a little chat we had with an amazing artist and fan Miss ESTER ERIYO. Miss Ester Eri is a concept art illustrator , animator and WEBTOON CREATOR of the comic book series PRYDFIRE.

 She is identified to be one of the most talented female digital artist in the Nigerian art creative space , reason being because she has a crazy and quirky style that blends Modern animation style and Anime styles using the water colour brush and pencil tool. She create's awesome concept illustrations that keep viewers wowed.

Here are a few questions that we asked her , hopefully it will be useful for you in your creative journey.

1) UVER COMICS : What is your favorite thing about being an artist ? 

ESTER ERIYO : I've  thought it for the first time and actually I honestly can't tell what it is. Maybe it's the fact that I can express my ideas or that it challenges my thoughts or that it's just enjoyable and one of my safe spaces. I don't  know !

2) UVERCOMICS: What inspired you to be an artist ?

ESTER ERIYO : As a child , the cartoons I watched , from Disney to Looney toons, to DC's to Anime's to every childhood show where what inspired my art journey.

3) UVERCOMICS: when did you start drawing?

ESTER ERIYO : As little as 6 or so 

4) UVERCOMICS: what comic book characters or cartoon do you love so much you wish you were the creator?

ESTER ERIYO : I wouldn't say there's a comic book character or cartoon character I created because I'm simply not the artist who created it. However I do have characters I'm inspired by like Katara and Zuko from Avatar the last Airbender.

5) UVERCOMICS: what are the challenges you face as a digital artist especially in Nigeria ?

ESTER ERIYO:  There are many challenges but I'll focus on that which affects me and every other Nigerian artist  (1) Constant power (2) Information and (3) The market with Nigeria.

(6) UVERCOMICS : What Stories inspired PRYDFIRE ?

ESTER ERIYO : If there's any story that inspired PRYDFIRE I'd say it's FAIRYTAIL.I especially loved the bond between the FAIRYTAIL guild members and I wanted to build something similar to that . Although the contents are very different i'd love to build a sensational bond among members of the PRYDFIRE.

(7) UVERCOMICS : What kind of Stories do you read ?

ESTER ERIYO : I love action , adventure, thriller , psychological and general well told stories .

(8) UVERCOMICS : What is your advice to all artists especially begginers ?

ESTER ERIYO: My advice would be if you're planning on getting into art as a profession and not just as a hobby, hone your craft and keep honing it. Try doing stuff outside your comfort zone , be patient and keep pushing. In time you will see results.

(9) UVERCOMICS : If you ever get stuck on Mount Everest with a super hero from our universe. Who would you choose ( either  Uver or Antenna) and why ?

ESTER ERIYO : The Antenna guy ! And why I guess I like his suit and colours !
